Mobile Suit Gundam Battle Operation 3 Announced as Free-to-Play Team Combat Game

Bandai Namco has announced Mobile Suit Gundam Battle Operation 3 for PlayStation 5 and PC via Steam during its Gundam Games 40th Anniversary livestream. The latest entry in the free-to-play tactical team combat series will support cross-play between both platforms. A release date has not been announced.

The sequel retains the series’ focus on team-based Mobile Suit combat, with players taking on the role of mercenary pilots. Players can also exit their Mobile Suits to fight on foot, plant bombs at enemy bases, request support fire, and capture battlefield objectives. Coordinating infantry operations with Mobile Suit combat remains an important part of team strategy.

Mobile Suit Gundam Battle Operation 3 will feature an expanded roster drawing from multiple Gundam series. At launch, the lineup will include Mobile Suits from the Universal Century timeline and Mobile Suit Gundam SEED, with additional series planned for future updates. Bandai Namco also confirmed that units such as the BuCUE will join the roster as it expands.

The sequel introduces several changes to its combat systems, including individual SP Skills for every Mobile Suit. A new Battle Assist feature will also make executing complicated maneuvers and combos easier. Other updates include a redesigned user interface, more detailed Mobile Suit models, and improved 3D environments.

Bandai Namco also shared an announcement trailer during the livestream, offering an initial look at the sequel’s Mobile Suits and updated combat.
