Jagex cancels RuneScape Reignited weeks after reveal

Just — quite literally a mere two — weeks since reveal, Jagex has announced RuneScape Reignited has been shelved following a vocal part of its community decrying fears it would fracture its player base.

In a blog post, creative director Mod Ryan admitted the team “missed the mark” and that the project would not be moving forward, clearly listening to the concerns of the community. It is important to note, though, just because Reignited has been shelved doesn’t mean the game is lacking any new innovation.

As part of the announcement, Ryan asserted that December “remains a fantastic time to start or continue your journey” as it plans on launching the Adventure Guide and the the first part of the Remastered Journey.

Frankly, it’s Jegex’s dedication to listening to its player base that no doubt led to the game remaining a pillar in gaming three decades later with continued support from not just old players but new ones, too.
