Supernatural PS5 Western RPG Finally Gets Console Release Date

Ice Code Games’ 2022 RPG is bringing its supernatural Wild West setting and turn-based tactical combat to PS5. The developer has announced the console release date for Hard West 2. The game will launch on PlayStation 5 and other consoles on November 10, 2026.

Hard West 2 was originally released on PC four years ago to positive reviews. At the time of writing, the game holds a score of 77/100 on Metacritic. Like its predecessor, Hard West 2 blends the Old West setting with supernatural elements and magic. The sequel improves on its predecessor in nearly every aspect, including tactical combat, storytelling, and progression.

What to expect from Hard West 2 on PS5?

In Hard West 2, players take on the role of Gin Carter, a legendary outlaw who wants to rob the mysterious “Ghost Train.” To pull off the heist, players travel across the Old West and face a variety of gunslinging foes. Combat requires players to command a group of heroes, each with unique abilities determined by their equipped cards. The sequel introduces the new Bravado mechanic, wherein defeating enemies restores action points, which incentivizes chain kills.

Beyond its tactical combat, players must carefully consider which NPCs they choose to trust. Making the right choices can increase companions’ loyalty points, which unlock new, useful skills in combat. The combat mechanics have been expanded to include more range-based shooting by ricocheting bullets off surfaces.

The game also places greater emphasis on each member of the posse during combat. Progression relies on a poker-hand system, in which collecting different pairs of playing cards unlocks bonus abilities. Hard West 2’s narrative has also been praised by players, as it follows a single storyline instead of multiple threads.

Combined with its deeper companion system, meaningful dialogue choices, additional side quests, and overall polish, Hard West 2 is a better game than its predecessor by most accounts.
