A Prince of Persia fan has offered Ubisoft more than €5 million (approximately $5.6 million) to resume development on its canceled Sands of Time remake.

Ubisoft announced in January 2026 that it was scrapping the project after years of development, citing concerns over the game's quality and the additional investment required to finish it.

However, one fan is now hoping to convince the publisher to reconsider, offering to help finance the project without asking for a share of its profits or ownership of the franchise.

In an open letter shared on X, the fan addressed Ubisoft directly, explaining that they wanted to explore the possibility of providing financial support to complete the game.

"My motivation is not to obtain financial profits, a share of the sales, or any rights over the intellectual property," the letter reads. "My only goal would be to help make this video game reach the players and allow the community to enjoy the work that has been done."

The fan claims to have an initial budget exceeding €5 million that they would be willing to allocate toward the project, although any funding would depend on a formal agreement with Ubisoft and an assessment of whether development could realistically resume.

"I have an initial budget of more than €5,000,000 that I would be willing to allocate to study this possibility, subject to a formal agreement, to the project's viability, and to the conditions that Ubisoft considers appropriate," they wrote.

The Sands of Time Remake was originally announced in September 2020 and was scheduled for release in January 2021 before being delayed multiple times.

"While the project had real potential, we weren't able to reach the level of quality you deserve, and continuing would have required more time and investment than we could responsibly commit," Ubisoft explained at the time.

Ubisoft has not publicly responded to the fan's proposal.
